The Head and The Heart announce 2012 Fall Tour

THIS IS CRAZY! Here are the tour dates, so see The Head and The Heart, maybe?!

The Head and The Heart have just announced their Fall 2012 Tour!

THIS IS CRAZY! Here are the tour dates, so see The Head and The Heart, maybe?!

The band is currently prepping to record their second studio album, and this is the last opportunity to see them before they head in to the studio for a while to record.

Presale tickets will be made available tomorrow, Tuesday, June 12th at 10am local venue time.
We highly recommend purchasing tickets through the pre-sale so that you save money on service fees, and have access to the tickets before the general on-sale date.
Pre-sale tickets will be available at www.crowdsurge.com/theheadandtheheart tomorrow (June 12).

Tickets for all tour dates go on sale to the general public on JUNE 15.

The Head and The Heart Holiday Week Round Up: The Shins, Sasquatch, SLC, Red Rocks

It’s been a few days and a lot has been going down, so it’s time for a roundup of news from around the web.  The message is simple: don’t be a slacker or you will have to put together a hell of a long recap blog post.

Interview: The Head and the Heart’s Tyler Williams on the band’s journey from open mics to three nights at The Fillmore – thebaybridged.com – Interview/ Feature

In a well written feature article/interview before the Fillmore shows Tyler reveals all, well maybe not all, but a lot. Here is a blip ““It’s not a healthy criticism circle up there. It bore down on Jon. It came out in one song … it’s pretty angsty,” he said. A second song, going with the working title of “Bird With Her Own Cage” will have a “hair” of electronica. “It’s about unrequited love, when you were young. And now you can actually have love, when you’re older. Does it mean the same as that unrequited love?”

A great article that was released before THATH’s Salt Lake City performance opening for The Shins:
“They had something like 1,700 fans, and we had something like 1,600,” says The Devil Whale bassist Jake Fish. “So, Charity bet [Jones] that they could have more fans at the end of a year or something, just kind of joking around.” As of press time, The Head & The Heart had nearly 100,000 fans; The Devil Whale had nearly 3,000.

“I think they won,” Fish says with a laugh.

The feature goes on to discuss the relationship between the two bands (The Head and The Heart and The Devil Whale), and then dives into the song writing process on the new album and creativity with some input from Tyler.

Gone are the days.......

This week I was privileged to see The Head and The Heart open for the Dave Matthews Band not once, but twice.

I have been to many DMB shows, (and by many I mean more than 50 but less than 250) and the general rule of thumb is: you do not go in for the opening act unless you want first crack at the toilets before the drunk masses of young people make their way in to the venue. This was not the case for The Head and The Heart. Although the amphitheaters were not packed for their performance, there was more of a presence than is generally seen for the opening acts.

Night 1 – May 22, 2012 – Atlanta, Georgia.
The Head and The Heart, and Atlanta have a great history. For some reason the shows in Atlanta are always special, and this one was no exception. I have never before seen the pit full for an opening band, but on May 22nd it was full. Dave (Matthews) came out to introduce The Head and The Heart and expressed his love for the band, and how grateful he was that they were opening for him. I was in the upper sections for this show so I had a good view of the entire crowd aside from those on the lawn, and it was really nice to see that many people show up for an opening act. Again the amphitheater was not full, but for an opening act there was a really nice turn out. The set was solid, and as it went on more people got out of their seats and rose to clap, and dance along with the music. Lost in my Mind really got the crowd going, and Rivers and Roads made for one hell of a closer. It was my first time seeing Gone with the full band, and I really loved the build up. Later on during DMB’s performance Dave again mentioned how much he loved the Head and The Heart, their music, and has a hard time holding himself back from calling them all the time, and hopes he does not scare them off. Personally I enjoyed THATH’s 45 min set more that night than DMB’s 2 and a half hour set.

The Head and The Heart Daily: Give Me Fuel Give Me Fire/Fear….

Yes, that is almost a full sentence worth of lyrics from a Metallica song in the title above.

The day we have been waiting impatiently for, well one of them, has arrived. The Head and The Heart’s encore Fuel/Friends Chapel Session was released today, and to put it plainly its awesome. Heather has once again out done herself, and has not only recorded another incredible session, but documented it so well with her words.

The 4 songs recorded this time around were:
1)Honey Come Home
2)Gone
3)Fire/Fear (New!)
4)Untitled (New!)

If you have not yet had a chance to listen to THATH’s first Chapel Session I highly recommend doing so.

News From Around The Web:

This past Sunday the band played the Beale St. Music Festival in Memphis and somehow Charity found her way on stage to dance with Little Richard. Still have yet to see a picture of it happen, but Fuse.tv did declare THATH’s “love fest” with the fans and “near-perfect set”, to be the 4th best moment of day 3 of the festival.

IF ANYONE HAS A PICTURE OF CHARITY DANCING WITH L.R. WE WOULD LOVE TO PUT IT HERE.

On Saturday The Head and The Heart had the opportunity? to open for Megadeth at the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish boil. In an article by al.com “Charity Rose Thielen, violinist and vocalist for the Head and the Heart, commented on the festival’s eclectic lineup from the stage. “I can’t say I’ve ever played the same stage as Megadeth or Snoop Dogg until today,” she said.”

The band also tweeted after the occasion: “Just got to end our set in Birmingham with “This is our last song, Megadeth is up next.” Never before, never again.”

The Head and The Heart Weekend Update: Coachella Part Duex, Josiah Loves Radiohead, and yep more shows!

The Head and The Heart battled the weather last week going from the cold damp weather at Spring Jam, to the 104 degree heat in Indo California, at Coachella. Regardless the band stayed true to form and earned praise for both performances.

Spring Jam:

Before the show at the University of Minnesota at Coffman Front Plaza Josiah mentioned to the Minnesota Daily that: ”We feed off the different energy on campus,” he said.  “And it’s extra special for Charity [Rose Thielen] because she has family here in Minnesota.” Based off of the tweets that were popping up after the show, it’s safe to say that both the band, and the students had a great time.

Coachella:

According to Mercury News regardless of the heat “the musical selection from the indie folk/pop/rock group more than won the audience over as the set was filled with crowd members clapping, singing and dancing.” While the Examiner said “brought some folky fun that had their crowd smiling like lotto-winners.”
The Head and The Heart made it to number 6 on Fuse’s top 10 best moments of Coachella day 2 for a heart stirring performance by Charity during rivers and roads.
